Job Title: Assistant Commissioner for Licensing

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as Assistant Commissioner for Licensing in the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC). As a key member of the TLC's leadership team, the Assistant Commissioner will play a critical role in shaping the agency's licensing policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of licensing policies and procedures
  • Manage a team of licensing staff and provide guidance on licensing-related matters
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with licensing regulations
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve licensing efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Provide analytical support to the Deputy Commissioner and other senior staff on licensing-related matters
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. economics, finance, accounting, business, public administration)
  • 2 years of professional experience in licensing, regulatory affairs, or a related field
  • Experience in managing a team and providing guidance on licensing-related matters
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research
  • Experience in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation
  • Experience in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management
