Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Nurse Practitioner PRN to join our team at Western State Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide medical evaluation and care for patients with acute and chronic medical problems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care for assigned units
  • Perform and document medical evaluations, including comprehensive medical histories and physicals
  • Develop and document working diagnoses and treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Order and interpret routine diagnostic studies
  • Collaborate with attending psychiatrist/NP for patients with complex medical/psychiatric interfaces
  • Refer patients to outside licensed physicians, clinics, or healthcare providers as needed
Requirements
  • Completion of approved nurse practitioner training course and current certification
  • Current, unrestricted RN and NP licenses in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Knowledge of and experience with Primary Care medicine at the nurse practitioner level
