Job Title: Primary Care Physician/Physician II

We are seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician/Physician II to join our team at Western State Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our medical services.

Job Summary:

The Primary Care Physician/Physician II will be responsible for providing primary care services to patients at our facility, including acute and chronic problem management, clinical supervision of nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and assistance with patient admissions. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide primary care services to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions
  • Supervise and mentor nurse practitioners and physician assistants to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Assist with patient admissions, including pre-screening and clinical evaluation
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
Requirements:
  • Completion of an approved medical school and residency in Family or Internal Medicine
  • License to practice medicine in Virginia
  • Broad medical knowledge and ability to practice medicine with acutely and chronically ill patient populations
  • Ability to provide training and supervision of medical, NP, and PA students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Board certification in Family or Internal Medicine
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
  • Veteran status
