Position: Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) Mechanic

Are you enthusiastic about the field of general aviation? At FLT Academy, we prioritize efficient processes and systems as the foundation of our success. Our skilled A&P mechanics are essential to our operations. We are committed to equipping our mechanics with the specialized tools necessary to maintain our fleet of aircraft. Our mechanics collaborate closely with flight operations to ensure our aircraft remain in optimal condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and modify worn or defective assemblies, making necessary alterations or changes to units.
  • Adhere to approved maintenance procedures for components or systems, consulting FAA-approved procedures, OEM technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Seek guidance from the Maintenance Lead if technical assistance is required during repairs.
  • Inspect completed work prior to signoff to determine if additional work is necessary to meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Conduct serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using specified test equipment.
  • Complete work package documentation by signing off after all designated operations are finished.
  • Submit completed or in-progress work to the Maintenance Lead for review and for final inspection to maintain aircraft/component airworthiness.
  • Accurately account for time, materials, and tools utilized in all inspection and maintenance activities.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Perform maintenance on a variety of general aviation aircraft.
  • Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting using approved data from manufacturers or the FAA.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in compliance with company, manufacturer, and FAA standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with relevant maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to interpret and understand manufacturer and FAA-approved work package instructions; capable of inspecting and installing parts/components.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current A&P license, a high school diploma or equivalent, along with additional coursework in aircraft maintenance.
  • Must have the necessary tools.
  • Physical requirements include climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations regarding aircraft maintenance procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician specializing in general aviation aircraft.
