Job Summary

The State of California is seeking a highly skilled Agricultural Technician II to join our team in Santa Barbara County. As a key member of our Pest Detection/Emergency Projects Branch, you will play a critical role in the early detection and prompt eradication of serious exotic agricultural pests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys to detect and identify exotic pests and diseases.
  • Collect and process plant and insect samples for further analysis.
  • Operate and maintain state vehicles to travel to designated work areas locally and throughout the state.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency eradication plans.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to achieve project goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and navigate to multiple locations.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and terrain.
