Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to assist the General Manager with the overall operation of Sparrow Italia. The successful candidate will oversee Back of House functions, work with the General Manager and Executive Chef to set the direction of the business, and drive sales and manage costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Management: Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, development, and retention of qualified employees.
  • Scheduling and Performance Reviews: Schedule, conduct, and document employee performance reviews according to standard operating procedure.
  • Employee Development: Identify, train, and develop key employees for growth, advancement, and promotion.
  • Job Function Proficiency: Become proficient in all job functions of both front and back of house employees.
  • Health and Safety: Comprehend and adhere to all Health Code and sanitation guidelines as prescribed by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Communicate repair and maintenance needs to the General Manager and/or appropriate repair source.
  • Computer Equipment: Become proficient in the use of all restaurant computer equipment, including Aloha, Ctuit, PlateIQ, Harri, Paylocity, and Open Table.
  • BOH Operations: Clear understanding of BOH operations.
  • Employee Supervision: Direct and supervise employees on a daily basis in a fair and dignified manner.
  • Management Training: Assist GM with training, coaching, and development of management team in areas including company culture, systems, policies, and procedures, personal growth, operational and financial knowledge, interpersonal skills, and organizational techniques.
  • Employee Performance Issues: Identify, address, and document individual employee performance problems according to standard operating procedure.
  • Customer Service: Address customer complaints and problems effectively and courteously on an as needed basis.
  • Labor Management: Ensure proper pars and inventory management systems are in place, manage labor dollars, controlling overtime and labor % according to budget.
  • Payroll: Weekly completion of Restaurant Payroll through Ctuit/Aloha and Harri.
Requirements
  • Education: College degree in Business, Hospitality, or a Related field; or equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Experience: Two to three years in a management position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Teamwork: Passion for hospitality and for creating exceptional guest experiences.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
  • Availability: Available to work on call shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on holidays.
Physical Abilities
  • Lifting and Carrying: Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Mobility: Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
  • Manual Dexterity: Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Equipment Operation: Requires manual ability to use, carry, and operate all necessary equipment.
