Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist to accurately identify and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes on laboratory order records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain Service Requisition forms and pathology reports for processing and review
  • Analyze pathology reports, research missing data, and ensure timely and quality completion of all transactions
  • Adhere to company compliance and billing policies, maintaining accurate documentation for pathology billing staff
  • Collaborate with team leads and supervisors to resolve complex issues

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a coding certification program with approval status
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prefer someone with work experience as a coder or strong training background in coding and reimbursement
  • Knowledge of coding guidelines, microcomputer technology, and 10 key proficiency
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to biological and chemical hazards
  • Reports to department Team Leader or Supervisor
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
