Position Overview:

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join the Marketplace division. This role is ideal for engineers with a robust background in backend development who are eager to tackle complex challenges at scale.

Team Insights:

The Marketplace Engineering team plays a pivotal role in constructing essential platforms and services that empower Walmart to offer a vast array of products at competitive prices while ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This team facilitates third-party sellers in managing their products on the marketplace platform, overseeing the entire seller lifecycle, enhancing customer experience, and providing valuable insights to assist sellers in optimizing their product assortment, pricing, and inventory management.

The Marketplace Offer Exposure team focuses on driving traffic and conversion growth for our sellers. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data science, design, legal compliance, and technical program management, you will lead engineering efforts to realize the product vision and roadmap, achieving well-defined business objectives. Your responsibilities will include developing solutions that enable sellers to effectively manage their growth and marketing initiatives through streamlined onboarding processes, campaign workflows, and analytics dashboards. You will also partner with the Data Science team to create models that support seller growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in medium to large-scale projects by analyzing project requirements, translating them into technical solutions, and developing code. Conduct unit testing, communicate project status to stakeholders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure timely delivery.
  • Lead small teams of engineers, including offshore associates, on assigned projects by providing necessary documentation, guidance, and examples. Identify both short- and long-term solutions, review proposed solutions, and conduct design and code reviews.
  • Resolve business and production challenges by gathering relevant information, engaging support teams, formulating action plans, and performing root cause analysis to prevent future issues.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Backend development technologies such as Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST, and RPC
  • Proficient in modern unit testing frameworks
  • Experience in building Microservices
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Knowledgeable in both private and public cloud technologies
  • Strong understanding of architecture and data-driven development
  • A sense of ownership and accountability
  • Experience in developing and maintaining production applications
  • Ability to balance urgency with delivering high-quality solutions
  • Experience working with large codebases in cross-functional teams
  • Background in building large-scale systems
