Join the Naval Nuclear Laboratory as a Mechanical Engineer and contribute to the development of advanced nuclear propulsion technology.
About the Role:We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the Heat Exchanger Advanced Technology (HEAT) unit in developing an advanced steam generator design. The successful candidate will work on thermal hydraulic analysis, structural analysis, materials performance, and manufacturing methods.
Responsibilities:- Design and develop heat exchanger and steam generator components
- Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to adapt to technical results and practical business factors
- Document technical work and perform peer reviews of technical work for others
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science-related field and 4 years of relevant experience
- Master's degree in engineering or science-related field and 2 years of relevant experience
- PhD degree in engineering or science-related field
- Currently or previously NPE qualified
- CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program
- Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE
- Effective written and oral communication
- Effective participation in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with heat exchanger design
- Experience with additive manufacturing of mission-critical components
- General understanding of steam generator performance

- Pay Range: $83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually
