Job Title:

Mechanical Engineer - Nuclear Propulsion

Job Summary:

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the development of advanced nuclear propulsion technology. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing heat exchangers and steam generators for naval nuclear reactors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop heat exchangers and steam generators for naval nuclear reactors
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal hydraulic analysis, structural analysis, and materials performance
  • Develop and implement advanced manufacturing methods and techniques
  • Perform peer reviews of technical work and document technical results
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science-related field and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree in engineering or science-related field and 2 years of relevant experience
  • PhD degree in engineering or science-related field
  • Currently or previously NPE qualified
  • CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program
Preferred Skills:
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Effective participation in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience with heat exchanger design
  • Experience with additive manufacturing of mission-critical components

Pay Range:

$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually
