POSITION TITLE: Barista / Cashier

Good Company Doughnuts & Cafe is in search of an enthusiastic individual to enhance our patrons' experiences while expertly managing our Specialty Coffee and Beverage Programs with a positive attitude, skill, and collaboration.

WORK LOCATION: 1000 4th St. SW

SHIFT: Daytime – includes some weekends and holidays (with flexibility)

COMPENSATION: $13 - $16 per hour + Tips (Total hourly compensation: $18+ - $24+).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a welcoming demeanor and assist customers with menu navigation, offering recommendations.
  • Build rapport with customers and establish professional relationships, remembering regular orders.
  • Keep work areas clean and hygienic, including blenders, beverage equipment, tables, shelves, and floors.
  • Articulate tasting notes of specialty beverages to customers.
  • Regularly sample coffee and tea to uphold quality standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic latte art.
  • Master Point of Sale and related applications.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in customer transactions and cash handling.
  • Complete checklists for opening, closing, and cleaning, setting up the next shift for success.
  • Package food and doughnut orders efficiently and neatly according to guidelines.
  • Stay informed about menu changes and effectively communicate ingredients to customers.
  • Ensure all food and beverages meet safety and quality standards, preventing cross-contamination.
  • Check product quality and maintain FIFO (first in, first out) practices, notifying supervisors of any issues.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving and organizing supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including FOH, patio, and restrooms.
  • Dispose of trash and recycling appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the team to complete cleaning and maintenance schedules for beverage equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety regulations.
  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • Ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with the team to foster a positive work environment.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Food Handler Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of employment).
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Skill in prioritizing and completing assigned tasks.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods, with shifts lasting up to 10 hours.
  • Ability to stoop and reach overhead.
  • Fine motor skills for detailed tasks.
  • Fluency in reading and communicating in English.
