Compensation:
$18.00-$20.00/hour

Position Summary:
The Sales Associate is tasked with supporting customers and contractors throughout the sales process. This role involves processing orders at the counter, addressing inquiries, and managing payment transactions.

This position is typically situated within a retail environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and engage with customers in a friendly manner, assisting with inquiries about products, store layout, pricing, and promotions.
  • Handle customer transactions using the cash register, ensuring accurate payment processing via cash, checks, credit cards, or other accepted methods.
  • Provide initial responses to customer questions regarding product choices, order placements, pricing requests, complaints, and delivery scheduling.
  • Assist customers in selecting products, maintaining accurate records of their choices.
  • Research special product requests and provide information on pricing, specifications, and availability.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to enhance product knowledge.
  • Generate precise invoices, work orders, and sales tickets, inputting customer orders and pricing data into the system.
  • Process refunds or credits with managerial approval when necessary.
  • Prepare merchandise for customers, including bagging, boxing, or wrapping as needed.
  • Maintain the showroom's appearance and ensure a clean and organized environment.
  • Monitor stock levels on the sales floor and assist with inventory management.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience in building materials and sales is advantageous.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong observational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Basic mathematical skills and proficiency with calculators and computers.
  • Familiarity with building materials, applications, and the construction industry is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Competent in using office equipment and software.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift items up to 100 lbs as required.
