Job Overview

Position Title: National Cyber Operator

Salary: Competitive

Job Objective:
We are seeking a skilled Cyber Operator with practical experience in Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and forensic analysis. This role supports the National Cyber Protection Team (CPT) operations, where the candidate will function as a Cyber Operator in either a Cyber Security Network Analyst or Cyber Security Host Analyst capacity.

Key Responsibilities:
The operator will engage in network exploration, tactical forensic assessments, and the collection of critical operational data. When necessary, they will execute operations to bolster defensive strategies.

  • Provide ongoing support for the continuous monitoring of designated networks, enclaves, and systems.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report findings in line with computer network directives, including the initiation and reporting of discovered events.
  • Manage and execute initial responses to reported or detected incidents.
  • Participate in project review meetings, offering technical INFOSEC guidance and updates, while documenting policies, procedures, and lessons learned.
  • Exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience, an Associate's degree with 4 years of experience, or 6 years of equivalent experience without a degree; degrees in engineering or applied sciences are preferred. Other degrees with a strong focus on computer technology may also be considered.

Specialized Knowledge: A solid understanding of physical computer components and architectures, including the functions of various components and peripherals, basic programming concepts, assembly codes, TCP/IP, OSI models, and security hardware and software.

Experience:
• Proficient with tools such as Wireshark, ELK, Moloch, Metasploit, tcpdump, NMap, Nessus, Snort, Bro, EnCase, and Forensic Toolkit.
• Experience in Cyber Threat Detection and Mitigation, as well as Behavioral Malware Analysis.
• Advanced skills in Network Traffic Analysis, including Malicious Network Traffic Analysis.
• Strong fundamentals in UNIX/Linux, along with familiarity with UNIX/Linux/Windows Command Line Interface (CLI).
• Proven ability to systematically analyze issues and identify potential solutions.
• Programming experience in assembly, compiled, and interpreted languages.
• Knowledge of encryption and decryption methods such as PGP, DES, AES, RSA, and PKI.
• Proficient in programming languages including C, C++, C#, Ruby, Perl, Python, and SQL.
• Familiarity with correlation environment tools (e.g., ArcSight).

Professional Certifications:
• Must possess or be willing to obtain within 6 months of employment - Operating System Certification; Microsoft or Linux.
• Additional certifications such as GXPN, GREM, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, GCFA, GNFA, RHCE, CompTIA, LPT, OSCP, CEH, Security+, MCP, and SANS GPEN are advantageous.

Personal Attributes:
• Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level 3 requirements.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in writing, editing, and executing scripts on Windows, Linux, and UNIX systems.
• Strong analytical skills to methodically assess problems and propose solutions.
• Capable of explaining, presenting, and documenting the operational impact of vulnerabilities or exploits.
• Ability to assist clients in implementing policies and procedures for conducting assessments.

Clearance Requirement:
ACTIVE TS/SCI CLEARANCE is mandatory; positions on the National Team will necessitate successful completion of a Counter Intelligence Polygraph Examination.
