Job Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled GIS Data Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations, you will be responsible for building predictive models using spatial data to forecast trends and outcomes within an ESRI geospatial platform. You will also develop interactive dashboards for real-time monitoring and reporting of spatial data and analyses as required by Bureau Management.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing predictive models using spatial data to forecast trends and outcomes within an ESRI geospatial platform;
- Creating interactive dashboards for real-time monitoring and reporting of spatial data and analyses as required by Bureau Management;
- Collaborating with other team members to identify areas for improvement and implement changes;
- Providing training and support to other team members on the use of ESRI geospatial platform and predictive modeling techniques;
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all work performed.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in statistics and programming, with expertise in Python scripting. You should also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. In addition, you must have current professional/vendor certifications and meet one of the following qualifications:
- A master's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university AND 12 months of satisfactory full-time experience in computer applications development planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; OR
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND 24 months of satisfactory full-time experience as described above; OR
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization AND 24 months of satisfactory full-time experience as described above plus 48 months of information technology experience; OR
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience which is equivalent to the above.
What We Offer
The City of New York offers a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
