About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Water Operator to oversee the operation and maintenance of our water distribution system. As a key member of our Utilities Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of potable water to our residents and businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain all aspects of the water distribution system, including treatment and blending facilities.
  • Monitor trends and pull water samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Operate a wide variety of pumping, treatment, control, and transmission equipment, including digital control (SCADA) equipment.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of assigned staff.
Requirements:
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by college-level coursework in water science or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience working in water distribution, potable water production, water treatment, storage, transmission, or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
  • Possession of a valid Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate.
  • Possession of a valid Grade T3 Water Treatment Operator Certificate.
  • Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of appointment, a valid Grade D4 Water Distribution Operator Certificate.
  • Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of appointment, a valid Grade T4 Water Treatment Operator Certificate.
