Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Care for Children: Provide daily care for children, including feeding, supporting social/emotional needs, and encouraging participation in activities.
  • Plan and Implement Activities: Develop and implement daily age-appropriate classroom activities to ensure all children have opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with co-workers, branch administration, and parents to develop and maintain positive relationships.
  • Maintain a Safe Environment: Ensure the facility and all equipment are clean, well-maintained, and safe on a daily basis.
  • Document Progress: Observe children and document their progress and development.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Meet licensing requirements, including being at least 18 years old, holding a high school diploma or equivalent, and meeting one of the following qualifications:
    • Option 1: Successful completion of three credits from a regionally accredited college or university in recreation, elementary education, school-age care, or school-age administration, and part-time employment for one school year or full-time employment for the majority of one summer season.
    • Option 2: Successful completion of 45 clock hours of quality-assured training related to the needs of school-age children and part-time employment for one school year or full-time employment for the majority of one summer season.
    • Option 3: Successful completion of at least 15-clock-hours of quality-assured training in school-age care and part-time employment for two school years or full-time employment for the majority of two summer seasons.
    • Option 4: Qualification as an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher.
  • Additional Requirements: Be at least four years older than any child in direct care, complete a physical and tuberculosis screening, and pass a criminal history, child abuse, and adult abuse background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Experience: Prior experience working or volunteering with youth in a group setting.
  • Communication Skills: Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
  • Flexibility: Be flexible and willing to accommodate the needs of the early childhood community and staff team.
