Medication History Technician

At Sentara Healthcare, we are seeking a skilled Medication History Technician to join our team. As an integral member of the healthcare team, this role is responsible for collecting an accurate medication and allergy history for admitted patients in the Emergency Department and/or inpatient units.
The successful candidate will obtain information by interviewing the patient, family members, retail pharmacy, nursing home documentation/staff, and any other available resources. The accurate home list will be documented in eCare to be used by physicians and other healthcare providers to determine treatment plans and medication orders during admission and post-discharge.
The Medication History Technician will communicate pertinent information (i.e. medications that need to be clarified with the physician and/or other healthcare providers) to the supervising pharmacist. A VA or NC Pharmacy Technician Registration Number is required, and 1 year of pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
This role will require two 4-hour shifts at Sentara BelleHarbour and one weekend a month at Sentara Obici Hospital. In return, Sentara Healthcare offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, sick leave, tuition reimbursement, and a 401(k) plan.
