Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician role at Brigham & Women's Faulkner Hospital is a critical position that requires a high level of technical and organizational skills. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products to patient care areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily workload to meet departmental needs
  • Prepack non-unit-dose oral medications for dispensing to patient care areas
  • Aseptically prepare intravenous medications within allotted time frames
  • Use appropriate technique in the IV Room, including Aseptic Technique, Chemo gown, and gloves when handling chemotherapy
  • Abide by IV Room policies and procedures
  • Fulfill medication orders accurately and efficiently
  • Dispense medications to Omnicell cabinets accurately and efficiently
  • Perform stock medication orders accurately and efficiently
  • Inspect assigned areas for outdated drugs
  • Answer phone calls in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Accept extra duties upon request and complete them according to deadline
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas in a timely and accurate manner

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Current Registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Massachusetts and no disciplinary actions taken
  • National certification (CPhT)
  • Staff adheres to all C.A.R.E. Standards
  • Ability to understand and communicate with healthcare personnel
  • Understanding of Pharmacy Department operations, including processing prescriber medication orders, Omnicell cabinets, and software, Epic, repackaging machine, and other technology
  • Maintenance of sufficient pharmaceutical knowledge for safe and effective distribution of medications
