About the Role

The Food Service Associate I is a key member of our team, responsible for preparing, assembling, and delivering food to our customers. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately assemble meal trays, meals, snacks, and nourishments per specified meal order or diet guidelines, adhering to portion control and quality food presentation standards.
  • Load and transport food carts, and deliver food to patient/resident room or designated area following established procedures.
  • Clean dishes, utensils, equipment, and work area following established sanitation procedures.
  • Perform prep work such as washing and peeling of fruits and vegetables, cutting and portioning desserts.
  • Deliver and stock food supplies in designated areas according to established par levels, ensuring proper rotation of items and monitoring expiration dates.
  • Use necessary equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Serve our cafeteria customers in a friendly, efficient manner by performing cashier duties, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Restock and maintain food and other supplies in an orderly manner, observing all food storage standards.
  • Follow established food handling procedures and monitor temperature of food and equipment to ensure food safety and infection control practices are met.
  • Maintain friendly customer interaction with patients and families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to read/write/understand English.
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.
Work Environment

Normally works in a climate-controlled environment, although may be exposed to heat and humidity from cooking equipment and refrigeration temperatures while in coolers and freezer.

Frequent standing with movement throughout work area.

Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments.

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

Occasional high noise level in work environment.

Possible exposure to hazardous materials.

Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers.
