Job Summary

Lao Family Community Development, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive Case Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will provide field-based case management services to newly arrived and resettled refugees, building strong relationships with clients to help them stay engaged in their case plan and remove barriers to needed services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and a passion for providing culturally appropriate support. They will be responsible for conducting education and outreach initiatives, performing individualized case management assessments, and developing personalized financial plans with clients.

The Case Manager will also facilitate job readiness training and employment placement services, collaborating with local employers to identify job opportunities suitable for clients' skills and aspirations. Additionally, they will conduct cultural orientation workshops for adult family members, covering social and cultural surroundings, healthcare, parenting, legal rights, and emergency services.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field AND a minimum of 1 year of experience working with vulnerable populations OR at least 2 years of experience in providing case management to underserved communities in a similar role.
  • Self-starter, ability to work with minimal supervision; excellent communication, community relations, networking, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with families without discrimination towards people of diverse cultures, races/ethnicities, socioeconomic positions, ages, religions, genders, physical/mental challenges/disabilities, and sexual orientations.
  • Understand, explain, and apply complex local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management, and Internet Explorer.
  • Must have a valid California Driver's License, clean DMV record, and proof of current auto insurance and registration; must pass a background check.

Compensation: The hourly rate is based on experience and education, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health plan/vision, dental, paid vacations, holidays, sick leave, and employer-contributed pension/group life insurance.
