Job Summary

We are seeking a Power Line/Power Utility Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Austin, TX. As a key member of our team, you will work on combining electrical engineering principles with investigative analysis techniques to deliver high-value solutions to complex technical problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical engineering analyses and consulting related to ongoing Exponent work
  • Prepare technical proposals, pursue business development opportunities, and perform technical analysis related to medium and high voltage energy systems
  • Risk analysis, design analysis, experimental testing for performance, reliability, and risk prediction
  • Failure analysis of electrical equipment and products
  • Critically assess test results, methods of analysis and testing protocols, generate new testing protocols based on new product designs, maintain a systematic approach to data collection and storage, and report writing
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industries
  • Ability to support multiple group projects and market the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Practice and its consulting services
  • Technical background in circuits, electronics, or control systems
  • Hands-on experience or a technical background in energy and power systems is a plus
