Position Overview:
As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the Personal Care Supervisor, delivering essential care services to meet the personal needs and health requirements of patients in both clinical and home environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to conduct ongoing patient evaluations and monitoring. Document personal care services rendered and assess patients' self-care capabilities, noting any changes in their condition.
  • Provide personal care support to help patients maintain their independence in daily activities, including toileting, bathing, eating, and grooming.
  • Assist in promoting physical activity, therapeutic exercises, and mobility for patients as directed by rehabilitation staff.
  • Safely operate hydraulic lifts and assist in transferring patients with minimal physical exertion.
  • Support patients with bowel and bladder management within the Nursing Assistant's scope of practice.

Patient Safety:
Ensure patient safety by identifying potential hazards and emergency situations, taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary. Timely submission of incident reports is required to the relevant department.

Specialized Care:
  • Deliver care to patients with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, following comprehensive training in this area.
  • Provide behavioral support and supervision, including reality orientation, reminders for nursing and medication adherence, dietary restrictions, and emotional reassurance.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a GED or high school diploma is required.
  • CPR/BLS certification is mandatory.
  • CNA Certification is essential.

Skills and Experience:
  • Familiarity with the principles and techniques for interacting with elderly individuals.
  • At least one year of documented experience working with frail or elderly populations is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, fostering a supportive and trusting relationship.
