Geriatric CNA

Vivo HealthStaff is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Geriatric CNA to join our team in Escondido, California. This is a full-time opportunity with benefits.

Under the supervision of the Personal Care Supervisor, the Nursing Assistant will provide various care services necessary for attending to the personal needs, support, and health status of patients in both the clinic and home settings.

• Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team in ongoing patient assessment and monitoring, reporting on personal care services provided and the self-care abilities of patients.
• Provide personal care assistance to maintain the independence of patients in conducting activities of daily living, including toileting, showers, eating, and grooming.
• Assist in the maintenance of physical activity, therapeutic exercises, and ambulation for patients as instructed by rehabilitation personnel.
• Efficiently assist with hydraulic floor-based lifts and safely transfer patients with minimal physical effort.
• Assist patients with bowel and bladder management within the scope of NA.

Responsible for patient safety, identifying safety hazards and emergency situations, and initiating corrective action as able. Incident reports to be submitted in a timely manner.

• Provide care to patients afflicted with Alzheimer's and other Dementias following comprehensive training.
• Provide behavioral supervision or support for patients, including reality orientation, reminders to follow through with nursing and medication instructions, diet restrictions, and emotional reassurance.

• Must possess a minimum of a GED or high school diploma.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• CNA Certification required.

• Knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in relating to frail elderly persons.
• Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred.
• Ability to establish a helping, trusting relationship with patients.
