JOB SUMMARY: The Claims Assistance Representative is responsible for evaluating and resolving inquiries received via phone and written communication. This role involves interpreting insurance benefits in line with established claims processing protocols. The representative will also identify and communicate any issues related to the claims processing system to the relevant parties. Maintaining organized records and effectively managing information regarding benefits, coverage, and policy decisions is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately interpret and communicate contract benefits to policyholders, agents, and service providers.
  • Provide timely updates on claim statuses to clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and send refund request letters, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Draft correspondence for customers as needed.
  • Handle incoming calls professionally and efficiently, adhering to company policies.
  • Make outbound calls to gather or provide necessary information.
  • Document all interactions thoroughly to maintain a clear audit trail.
  • Facilitate the transfer of calls to other departments as required.
  • Engage in cross-training and team sessions to enhance overall service quality.
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors and team members to ensure accurate information dissemination.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of one year of experience in a fast-paced call center environment is essential. Experience in the medical or insurance field is preferred, particularly with Medicare Supplement plans.
