We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to join our team at the Idaho National Laboratory's Materials and Fuels Complex. As a National Reactor Innovation Center Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and testing of advanced reactor systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the lead reactor experiment engineer in facilitating the review, installation, and operation of advanced micro reactors at the NRIC testbeds.
- Collaborate with NRIC and MFC personnel to ensure proper oversight of advanced reactors is completed.
- Apply knowledge, practices, and techniques to develop designs for new or modified systems, processes, and specialized equipment through design and implementation phases for reactor support projects in the test bed facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline and 5-8 years relevant engineering experience, or a master's degree and 3-6 years relevant experience.
- Ability to design, analyze, and evaluate assigned systems.
- Ability to communicate with operations, engineering, nuclear safety, maintenance, and programmatic personnel both verbally and through written products.
- Ability to identify and execute engineering work tasks such as design efforts, maintenance activities, and operating written instructions.
- Experience performing system engineering functions within a nuclear facility/environment.
- Professional Engineering License.
- Travel – baseline of 25% with occasional periods of higher frequency.
