About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Great Lakes Community Action Partnership. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing quality mental health services to children and families in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor comprehensive mental health services in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Ohio Early Childhood Education program requirements, and Ohio Department of Job and Family Services licensing regulations.
  • Complete individual mental health child assessments and discuss observations and recommendations with staff and/or parents.
  • Ensure the referral process for children and families with suspected mental health needs is implemented.
  • Promote social emotional development through parent trainings and provide training and information on mental health and community resources.
  • Develop Behavior Support Plans for children as needed and provide hands-on support and coaching for teachers.
  • Review developmental screenings, conduct observations, and make recommendations.
  • Maintain and monitor records and submit accurate reports and requested information on a timely basis.
  • Organize and/or attend staff, parent, community, and state meetings to build effective relationships and provide training.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field and licensed as a social worker, professional clinical counselor, or marriage/family therapist.
  • Three to five years of experience working with at-risk children birth to 5 years old and families or in social services.
  • One to three years of experience working with word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and database software and management information systems.
