Position Overview

The Staff Nurse in Critical Care Services plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of patients in a high-acuity environment. This position is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care. The nurse will focus on patient education and effective discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Patient Care Management:** Oversee the care activities of assigned patients, addressing actual or potential health issues through thorough assessments and interventions.
2. **Collaboration:** Work as an integral member of a designated care team, coordinating with colleagues to ensure safe and effective patient care.
3. **Patient Mobilization:** Emphasize the importance of mobilizing patients to prevent complications such as skin breakdown and falls.
4. **Education and Planning:** Provide education to patients and families, facilitating informed decision-making and discharge planning.

Qualifications

- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Experience in Adult Medical/Surgical nursing is advantageous.
- Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities are essential.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills are necessary for patient and team interactions.
- Ability to lift and assist patients, with or without accommodations.
- Organizational skills to manage care for multiple patients effectively.
- Completion of a Progressive Care Course or certification is preferred within the first six months of employment.
- Phlebotomy or IV Certification is preferred, to be obtained within the first six months.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- Successful completion of a Critical Care Course or CCRN Certification is preferred.
