Climbing Wall Lead Staff Job Description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Climbing Wall Lead Staff to join our team. As a Climbing Wall Lead Staff, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality climbing wall programs to children and adults, while promoting a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Development: Prepare lesson plans that cater to the age and ability of participants, ensuring a fun and engaging experience.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Lead and assist participants in skill development and activities, enforcing safety rules and regulations at the climbing wall.
  • Volunteer Management: Assist in recruiting and leading volunteers to support programming, creating a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Scheduling and Administration: Create and maintain class schedules and rosters, ensuring efficient program delivery.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent, with one year or more of related experience in rock climbing.
  • Skills and Certifications: Belay certification, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (preferred), with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, a positive attitude, and previous experience working with youth and diverse populations.
