Description
As a Vehicle Maintenance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of various automotive and heavy machinery. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing mechanical failures and executing comprehensive repairs on a wide range of vehicles, including but not limited to: ten-wheel dump trucks, pickups, school buses, graders, and excavators. This position may require you to work both in the workshop and in the field, providing flexibility and variety in your daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical issues using operator feedback, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools;
- Perform maintenance and repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, including parts replacement and engine overhauls;
- Maintain and repair electrical systems, ensuring all components function effectively;
- Conduct repairs on chassis systems, including brakes, steering, and tires;
- Service snow and ice control equipment as needed;
- Execute field repairs on vehicles and machinery;
- Fabricate parts and perform welding tasks when required;
- Conduct road tests to ensure vehicle safety and performance;
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area;
- Document all work performed accurately;
- May supervise junior staff in the absence of the supervisor;
- Engage in other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Experience: A minimum of three years of full-time, paid experience in automotive or diesel mechanics, with completion of a technical program in the field preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license is required, with the expectation to obtain a commercial motor vehicle driver's license within a specified timeframe.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds and maintain physical fitness appropriate for the demands of the position.
