Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist, NICU

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). As a key member of our nursing staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the development of our nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert clinical guidance and support to nursing staff in the NICU, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patient needs, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Develop and lead educational programs for nursing staff, promoting best practices and advancing nursing knowledge.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of policies and procedures that enhance patient care.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • New York State Registered Nurse licensure.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the NICU, with a strong background in clinical nursing and leadership.
  • Specialty certifications, such as CCRN or CNL, are highly desirable.
