Position Title: Clinical Genetics

Institution: VCU Health - MCV Physicians

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Geneticist to enhance our pediatric genetics services.

Unit Mission: The Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU Health is committed to providing exceptional clinical care, education, and advancing research in clinical, translational, and basic genetics.

Primary Objective: The selected candidate will join the Section of Clinical Genetics, focusing on delivering high-quality patient care and genetic counseling across various age groups. Our facility is recognized as the largest academic pediatric hospital in the region, equipped with state-of-the-art resources for both inpatient and outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Education: Contribute to the training and supervision of medical students, residents, and genetic counseling students through both clinical and didactic methods.
  • Research Engagement: Participate in scholarly activities, including presenting at national conferences and contributing to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Professional Service: Engage with regional and national professional organizations and committees to enhance the field of clinical genetics.
  • Clinical Duties: Provide comprehensive clinical services in various settings, including telemedicine, while sharing responsibilities with fellow Clinical Genetics professionals. The role involves seeing patients of all ages, from preconception to end-of-life care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical practice and teaching, with experience in training graduate and medical students.
  • Possession of an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, with Board eligibility or certification from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).
  • Eligibility for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment within the faculty, staff, and student body.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Clinical Biochemical Genetics from AMBGG, with preference for candidates who have demonstrated clinical experience and a record of research and scholarly contributions.
