Security Clearance: The selected candidate must be eligible to hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET personnel security clearance.

Position/Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering/technical support for concept studies, feasibility studies, and preliminary design activities.
  • Conduct naval architecture, marine engineering, electrical engineering, and in-depth engineering support for the Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E); Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Intelligence (C4I); and mission equipment and systems installed aboard ships, boats, craft, and targets.
  • Participate in the PMS 325 Team, focusing on design-oriented evaluations of Military Sea Lift Command Vessels, including assessing current configurations, ensuring safety compliance, and facilitating training.
  • Engage in creating work items and cost estimations, provide support during shipyard inspections, and guide necessary design modifications.
  • Direct support to Government T-AO Ship Design Manager (SDM).
  • Foster collaboration within the design team to drive project success through collective expertise.
  • Conduct critical evaluations of design outputs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of precision and functionality.
  • Author comprehensive operating manuals, instructions, and test protocols for shipboard equipment, prioritizing usability and technical accuracy.
  • Undertake thorough reviews and updates of Safety Management System protocols, leveraging design thinking to enhance safety measures.

Requirements:

  • 7 years of experience in DoD/Navy program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.
  • DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process); Military Sealift Command procedures and processes; Supervisory experience; experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel; ship building experience desired.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; Master's degree in engineering preferred; Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering preferred; Professional Engineer License preferred.
