Job Summary

Versiti, Inc. is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our collection team, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy collections of whole blood and apheresis products, interacting with donors and coordinators to deliver an excellent donation experience, and working cooperatively with the team to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy collections of whole blood and apheresis products
  • Interact with donors and coordinators to deliver an excellent donation experience
  • Work cooperatively with the team to achieve our goals
  • Operate mobile drive buses and transport staff, supplies, and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Understand and perform to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Treat donors with customer service excellence and present a positive image
  • Recognize and respond to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints in a timely and complete manner
  • Prepare collection sites and perform setup, including technology systems
  • Perform donor screening and mini-physicals
  • Conduct automation, including recognizing and responding to automation reactions
  • Recruit and convert donors for automation
  • Prepare and pack units for transport
  • Observe donors for reactions, provide reaction care, and assist other staff in handling reactions if needed
  • Provide post-reaction care at mobile drives, including assessing reactions for recovery and escorting donors
  • Rebook donors for future donation appointments
  • Travel to other local collection sites as determined by business need
  • Requires evening, weekend, and vacation work hours
  • Create a safe environment for donors and staff members
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on equipment, including troubleshooting
  • Maintain product integrity and ensure proper identification of all donors
  • Complete department records and maintain organization, as needed
  • Participate in validation of new processes or new equipment
  • Review daily work for accuracy and recognize unexpected results, resolving where appropriate
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years relevant people-facing experience preferred
  • Valid drivers' license with prior driving experience required
  • Valid CDL with air brakes endorsement (B) required
  • Knowledge of standardized work routines and methods, general facts and information, and/or the use of simple equipment, machines, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals
  • Basic mathematical aptitude required
  • Ability to apply judgment to written or oral instructions
  • Ability to organize work to provide productive work flow
  • Flexibility to work independently and with a team
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to provide feedback to peers
  • Ability to learn/utilize computer applications, such as Ceridian, Hemasphere, Oracle, and HemaTerra
