Job Title: Executive Director of Auxiliary Services

Harris-Stowe State University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Auxiliary Services to lead our diverse group of revenue-generating auxiliary units. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight of our auxiliary services, emphasizing excellent customer service while optimizing revenue and operating margin contributions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic implementation and oversight of day-to-day activities of the Auxiliary Services departments and programs, including campus dining, parking and transportation services, bookstore services, student center operations, and retail operations.
  • Promoting Auxiliary Services to the campus community and coordinating budget development and monitoring revenue/expense activity, dashboard reporting, mail services, policy development/implementation, business planning, capital investment planning, project management, and process improvement efforts.
  • Managing, identifying, evaluating, and recommending sustainable revenue-generating opportunities that enhance services to the University.
  • Providing robust financial analysis and recommendations to improve revenue and operating margins for various existing business and proposed initiatives.
  • Directing complex sourcing/procurement projects and strategies, negotiating and managing binding contractual agreements, and improving efficiency and cost containment/reduction efforts.
  • Acting as project manager for all design and construction projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Developing and refining sustainable purchasing policies in collaboration with students and faculty as appropriate.
  • Providing financial information for other departments and agencies and communicating financial information in an understandable form for non-technical people using both written and verbal skills.
  • Maintaining records according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Working in partnership with the CFO and management team, providing strategic advice, mentoring, and advocacy.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with coursework in Business or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience directly managing complex, high-volume enterprises with demonstrated successful outcomes.
  • Experience with higher education environments is preferred.
  • Experience consulting and advising senior-level executives.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position that requires a valid driver's license and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. The work is typically performed in a typical interior/office environment with very limited or no exposure to physical risk.
