Position Overview:
Under general supervision, this role involves delivering prompt and courteous food service to patrons of the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests and take their food and beverage orders, ensuring to accommodate any special requests.
- Remain attentive to guests throughout their dining experience, consistently meeting or exceeding established service standards.
- Memorize menu items, recipes, and daily specials to effectively respond to inquiries and make recommendations to guests.
- Maintain cleanliness in the restaurant, waitstation, and kitchen service areas to ensure a presentable and compliant environment.
- Accurately manage guest checks by adhering to established procedures and documenting all necessary information as orders are taken.
- Process guest payments accurately, ensuring the correctness of checks and payment methods to protect both customer and company interests.
- Attend all pre-meal and departmental meetings to enhance communication and product knowledge.
- Address customer inquiries and feedback promptly, providing knowledgeable information to ensure high-quality service.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role for a minimum of three months.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic understanding of customer service principles, food service operations, and restaurant procedures.
- Familiarity with standard cash-handling practices.
- Proficiency in oral and written English.
- Ability to see detailed guest checks, computer printouts, and written instructions, even in dim lighting.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment, carry trays, and grasp items effectively.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs, including serving trays and small equipment, throughout the shift.
- Full mobility to navigate the establishment regularly during shifts.
- Moderate hearing capability to communicate effectively with guests and staff.
- Excellent vision to ensure product quality and safety.
- Strong comprehension and literacy skills to read and follow instructions and special requests.
- Ability to multitask, follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate effectively.
- Highly organized with attention to detail, especially in busy environments.
- Capable of handling customer service challenges with tact and understanding.
- Physically demanding role requiring prolonged standing, walking, and lifting in an indoor setting.
