Position Overview

ATC New York City is seeking a CERTIFIED PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT (CPCA). The CPCA is responsible for delivering essential personal care services to patients across various healthcare environments under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional. This role involves providing nursing care tailored to the specific age group of the patients served. We have opportunities available in diverse locations.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE CPCA ROLE:

  • Completion of a state-recognized certified nursing program and/or successful completion of a competency evaluation that meets state standards.
  • Possession of valid, unrestricted certification as a CPCA in accordance with state regulations.
  • A minimum of six months of experience working as a CPCA in a healthcare setting.
  • Successful completion of background checks, drug screenings, and fingerprinting.
  • Availability to work two weekends within a six-week timeframe.
  • Commitment to 35-hour work weeks with optional overtime. Typical shift: 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Various healthcare facility settings; potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CPCA:

  • Adhere to ATC policies and procedures.
  • Follow nursing policies and procedures of the client facilities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Effectively communicate relevant information to appropriate personnel.
  • Document patient care as required by facility protocols.
  • Implement the patient's care plan as directed.
  • Provide personal care services to patients as assigned.
  • Measure and record vital signs in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Document patient intake and output as required.
  • Enhance professional skills through ongoing education and meet state-specific requirements.
  • Deliver patient care in a respectful, non-discriminatory manner that acknowledges cultural diversity and age appropriateness, ensuring the preservation of autonomy, rights, and dignity.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Responsibilities may vary by assignment and are subject to change at any time.
