Job Responsibilities
The Procurement Specialist II is tasked with sourcing and acquiring standard goods and services for designated markets and commodities in accordance with the college's regulations and the SC Consolidated Procurement Code. This role operates under the general supervision of the Director of Procurement and Risk Management. The incumbent will engage in routine purchasing activities, ensuring compliance with the South Carolina Consolidated Procurement Code and Regulations.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma is required, along with relevant work experience. A bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a related discipline and at least one (1) year of pertinent work experience; or an associate degree in a related field with three (3) years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma with five (5) years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification from the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (CPPB) or the Institute for Supply Management (APP) is preferred. Candidates with experience in procurement for physical plant/maintenance and/or information technology, particularly within the public sector in South Carolina, are highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, are essential. Excellent customer service skills are a must.
