Family Support Services Coordinator

The role of a Family Support Services Coordinator is integral to the Family Services sector. In this position, you will be tasked with developing and implementing tailored service strategies utilizing case management techniques within Employment Services and Child Care, while managing caseloads that include Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Adoptions. Your work may span various program domains or concentrate on specific areas. Generally, you will operate autonomously, seeking guidance only in exceptional circumstances or when mandated by policy.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret and apply relevant laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to your duties
- Oversee, coordinate, and manage designated programs
- Facilitate services within your jurisdiction
- Conduct interviews and evaluate client needs
- Educate clients about available service programs and their entitlements
- Identify suitable services and formulate service plans
- Deliver case management support
- Administer program waiting lists
- Monitor expenditures and prepare financial forecasts
- Fulfill planning and reporting obligations
- Collaborate with other organizations and engage in multidisciplinary teams
- Evaluate programs within your area of oversight
- Serve as a resource for clients and the community
- Provide after-hours on-call support and respond to urgent situations
- Proficient understanding of social work principles and methodologies
- Competence in operating a motor vehicle and utilizing a personal computer
- Effective communication skills, ability to assess needs, and make informed decisions
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline or equivalent experience
Experience with OASIS software is advantageous. A Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, along with a Social Worker license from the Commonwealth of Virginia, is highly desirable.
Additional Requirements- Candidates may be subject to a Criminal History Background check, Central Registry review, etc.
- Willingness to work in community emergency shelters during crises is essential
- Availability for on-call duties and emergency response in Protective Services and Foster Care is required
