Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist II to join our team. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for providing critical support to individuals and families in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans to address the unique needs of clients
  • Provide case management services to monitor compliance and ensure timely delivery of services
  • Coordinate services with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support
  • Conduct thorough assessments of client needs and develop effective service plans to address those needs
  • Provide education and support to clients on related service programs, rules, and regulations
  • Manage program waiting lists and track expenditures to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and ensure timely payment for services
  • Complete necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current on best practices and industry developments
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area, with a focus on family services
  • Strong knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior, and motivational theory
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience utilizing OASIS
  • BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license
Special Requirements
  • Applicants may be subject to a Criminal History Background search, Central Registry search, DMV/driving record check, and/or pre-employment drug screen
  • Employee must be willing to work in the community emergency shelter in the event of a natural disaster or emergency
  • Employee must be willing to provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies in Child/Adult Protective Services and/or Foster Care
