In the role of Lead Systems Solutions Engineer, you will be expected to take initiative and act as an entrepreneur, providing technical guidance in the engineering aspects necessary for the enablement, fulfillment, and operation of servers, storage, and infrastructure tailored to specific clients within our target federal markets. Experience with 4G or 5G, UHF or VHF is highly valued. If you possess virtualization experience, please highlight that.

IMPORTANT: HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED and the ability to communicate effectively with clients is essential.

Success in this position will be measured by the delivery of high-quality solutions that adhere to schedule and budgetary constraints while ensuring prompt resolution of any issues encountered during production builds and initial deployments. Familiarity with various software and hardware vendors is crucial, as is the ability to learn and utilize OEM partner portals for efficient quoting processes.

This role will involve direct interaction with our clients in the delivery and support of IMPRES Technology Solutions.

Occasional travel to client sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, specify, and validate customized security, software, network, server, and storage platforms to meet client-specific requirements, engaging directly with marketing and clients as necessary.
  • Assist in the development of Statements of Work (SOW) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) for clients, collaborating with IMPRES marketing, sales, and program management teams to ensure technical compliance and competitive relevance.
  • Rapidly generate configurations for quotes using OEM tools (e.g., Dell partner tool or HPE partner tool) and suggest additional upgrades or requests that may lead to further discussions with clients.
  • Conduct technical feasibility assessments and evaluations of proposed product solutions to ensure alignment with client requirements and OEM quality standards.
  • Oversee sample builds and coordination for IMPRES clients, including testing and validation of specified features, benchmarks, and other metrics.
  • Collaborate with services, OEMs, and other partners as needed to provide technical support for all client engagements throughout the sales process.
  • Provide engineering support for system delivery to clients, including assistance with OEMs during product builds and support at manufacturing integration facilities to ensure correct assembly and configuration prior to deployment.
  • Work with marketing to ensure that client priorities and requirements are tracked, understood, and integrated into future product strategies.
  • Independently identify new opportunities and foster relationships with our client base.
Qualifications:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Extensive experience in x86 system engineering, particularly in the development of computer or storage systems through ODM relationships or direct systems engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to write and analyze requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, test plans, and documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking, server, and storage hardware architecture and systems.
  • Experience with Dell EMC Storage and Pure Storage is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization and cloud solutions is desirable.
  • Experience in software and system hardware design, development, testing, or equivalent roles that require detailed analysis and debugging of issues.
  • Familiarity with multiple OEM vendors is essential.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional development efforts from conception through implementation and maintenance.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant technologies, vendor products, and competitive offerings for optimal selection and integration.
  • Ability to evaluate options for critical design elements/features and determine the best selection.
  • Strong capability to identify potential product weaknesses and provide design recommendations for future improvements.
  • Insight into managing cultural differences effectively.
  • Experience in engaging with and supporting end clients is ideal.
  • OEM certifications (e.g., Dell, Cisco) are beneficial, as is experience in pre-sales technical consulting, preferably for federal government clients.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with a BSEE or equivalent degree.

This position may require occasional travel to client sites.
