Job Overview:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking dedicated individuals to fill the role of Chemistry and Math Tutors. This position is designed for those who are passionate about education and committed to helping students achieve their academic goals. The successful candidates will engage with students to enhance their understanding of course material and develop effective study strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating both scheduled and walk-in tutoring sessions focused on course-related subjects.
  • Collaborating with instructors to support students in their learning journey.
  • Assisting students in finding solutions to their academic inquiries.
  • Documenting session notes and tracking student progress.
  • Reviewing and preparing lesson plans based on current curriculum.
  • Completing assigned projects and contributing to departmental initiatives.
  • Providing support at the front desk, including answering inquiries and assisting with administrative tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • If a student, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 or a GPA of 2.5 with an A grade in the subjects being tutored.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous tutoring or teaching experience in a relevant field.
  • Familiarity with educational best practices and learning strategies.
