Role Summary:

The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for executing clinical laboratory assessments utilizing the Company's innovative technology platform, Topographic Genotyping. This role involves maintaining laboratory documentation in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices and providing support to the Director of Laboratory Operations and the Chief Scientific Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory analyses related to Topographic Genotyping, including PCR and genetic assessments, along with other necessary techniques to meet the scientific and commercial demands of the organization. Ensure accurate analysis and reporting of results using validated methodologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of laboratory processes and adhere to established protocols in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Offer technical laboratory assistance for all clinical and research initiatives aligned with the scientific and commercial objectives.
  • Utilize and maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies, ensuring proper calibration as required.
  • Support the seamless operation and delivery of the Company's services.
  • May mentor or supervise new Laboratory Technologists.
  • Review New York State Standards and CAP checklists, assisting in the preparation for inspections.
  • Engage in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the quality of analyses.
  • Manage special projects and additional tasks as assigned.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the Quality Management System and quality control program concerning all laboratory operations, ensuring the integrity of analytical testing and results. This includes preparing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), utilizing appropriate controls, and ensuring quality assurance of results.
  • Perform duties in compliance with laboratory safety and infection control practices.
  • Maintain professional competency through performance evaluations and proficiency testing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to execute essential scientific, regulatory, and administrative laboratory functions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey laboratory information, reports, and processes effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Access.

Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting; experience in a commercial laboratory is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a laboratory-based scientific discipline that provides a foundation for understanding the relevant scientific principles.

Certifications:

ASCP certification is preferred.

Supervisory Role:

No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require a full range of motion, including manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operating complex laboratory equipment. The role may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing and occasional lifting of items weighing up to 30 pounds. Color perception is necessary, and the ability to view and type on computer screens for extended periods is required.
