Overview:

Under the guidance of Supervisors, the incumbent is responsible for a variety of tasks within the food service department. This includes managing the trayline, portioning and serving food items, stocking necessary supplies, delivering and retrieving meal carts, preparing beverages and desserts for patients and events, assembling late trays, handling phone communications, setting up and clearing functions, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the work area. The incumbent must adhere to established performance standards and handle sensitive information in compliance with organizational policies and ethical standards. Reporting any security concerns and participating in patient safety initiatives is also a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute assigned trayline duties efficiently.
  • Prepare the trayline workstation by ensuring all food, beverages, and supplies are stocked for seamless operation.
  • Assemble patient trays in accordance with hygiene, presentation, and accuracy standards.
  • Maintain a steady workflow to ensure timely meal service.
  • Clean and restock the workstation after each service.
  • Deliver patient trays accurately to designated areas.
  • Return meal carts promptly to avoid delays for dishwashing staff.
  • Perform food preparation tasks as assigned, ensuring compliance with portion control and labeling standards.
  • Organize tasks to meet deadlines for trayline, cafeteria service, or special events.
  • Prepare and dispatch late trays to patient units promptly.
  • Set up and provide food for special function requests.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dishroom responsibilities, including proper use of dishwashing equipment.
  • Accurately record dish machine temperatures and report any equipment issues.
  • Follow safety and sanitation protocols diligently.
  • Inspect cleaned dishes and utensils before reuse.
  • Practice safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Consistently maintain cleanliness in food storage areas and manage inventory effectively.
  • Demonstrate proper hand hygiene to prevent foodborne illnesses.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment throughout the day.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls professionally.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and maintain sanitation standards.
