Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Animal Care Attendant to join our team at Easterseals Massachusetts Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to our barn animals, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently open and close the Equestrian Center, ensuring a secure and safe environment for all animals.
  • Care for, feed, groom, and maintain the health and well-being of all barn animals, adhering to established procedures and protocols.
  • Create an optimal environment for all animals by cleaning and maintaining habitats tailored to each individual's needs.
  • Maintain horse equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Administer routine medications under the direction of the ESMA Equestrian Center Director and/or Veterinarian.
  • Provide backup staffing coverage as needed.
Requirements
  • Equine experience is essential, including tacking, untacking, leading, and safely working around horses.
  • At least 1 year of related experience in an equine setting, preferably in a recognized public or private agency.
  • Ability to work independently in a barn setting, supporting horseback riding and small animal activities.
  • Knowledge of equine activities, safety practices, and procedures.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including adapted equipment and behavior management (preferred).
  • Ability to provide a recent physical indicating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, either with or without accommodations and required immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Tdap, Varicella).
