Psychiatrist - Inpatient Unit Director

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychiatrist to serve as the Inpatient Unit Chief at our esteemed institution. As a key member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a robust treatment team to provide high-quality patient care and ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
- Establish and oversee interdisciplinary teams and team meetings to promote effective communication and collaboration.
- Participate in Behavioral Codes on the unit, providing leadership to the staff and patient community.
- Provide direct care for a caseload of patients on the unit, including timely and accurate documentation.
- Monitor patient care and work with teams to ensure optimal length of stay and dispositions.
- Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities, including chart reviews and education of unit staff.
- Collaborate with risk management to review major incidents on the inpatient unit.
- Ensure adequate psychiatric coverage on the unit at all times, including staff vacations.
- Assist in the preparation for surveys and maintain awareness of regulatory standards.
- Work with the UM department to conduct MD to MD reviews and participate in appeals to ensure authorization of inpatient stays.
Qualifications:
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Psychiatry.
- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine.
- Completed residency training in an accredited program within Psychiatry.
- License to practice medicine in the State of New York.
