Overview:


The Material Handler role is essential for the efficient movement of products within a warehouse or distribution center. This position involves utilizing forklifts and other lifting equipment to ensure that production areas are supplied with necessary materials and that finished goods are properly removed to maintain optimal operational flow and productivity standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all safety protocols and procedures while operating lifting equipment
  • Organize and stack freight systematically in accordance with established safety and quality guidelines
  • Strategically plan the movement of freight in a timely manner based on the layout and volume of work
  • Conduct inspections and operate forklift machinery
  • Execute tasks related to the transportation of goods
  • Deliver products to production areas or transfer finished goods to storage
  • Regularly monitor product quality and report any issues to prevent complications
  • Sort and process materials as instructed
  • Efficiently pack and fill boxes or pallets, adhering to weight restrictions
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of materials to ensure organization and inventory precision
  • Assemble orders from stock and place them on pallets or shelves, or move them to designated holding areas
  • Achieve baseline productivity targets on a daily basis
  • Provide prompt feedback to management regarding fulfillment challenges, inventory inconsistencies, or safety concerns
  • Utilize RF devices for operational tasks
  • Ensure timely shipping and receiving processes
  • Collaborate with the Inventory Control team as necessary
  • Uphold quality compliance standards
  • Maintain 5S standards and housekeeping practices
  • Participate in cross-training for various warehouse functions as required

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to complete forklift training provided by the organization, including annual updates
  • Capability to operate material lifts as directed by supervisory staff
  • Proficiency in working within a highly organized and color-coded environment
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Strong teamwork abilities
  • Competence in reading labels and numbers
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced and high-speed environment
  • Ability to follow instructions as provided by supervisors
Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a warehouse setting is required
  • Prior experience operating forklifts is required
  • Leadership experience is advantageous
  • Familiarity with WMS or RF Unit systems is a plus
