POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision and adhering to established protocols, the CT Imaging Technologist performs diagnostic CT examinations using appropriate imaging technology. Technologists are expected to exhibit strong clinical skills and deliver high-quality images for interpretation while adhering to ALARA principles for radiation safety. Commitment to the Corewell Health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Confirm patient identity and physician orders.
  • Provide detailed procedural information and education to patients and their families prior to examinations.
  • Collect comprehensive patient histories and document them in medical records. Conduct CT and related patient care procedures using age-appropriate techniques based on the patient's physical capabilities.
  • Administer IVs as necessary for contrast media injections. Skillfully operate CT imaging equipment and conduct essential quality control and assurance tests.
  • Monitor patients throughout procedures to ensure their safety.
  • Relay STAT requests to radiologists promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment between patients and ensure examination rooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Efficiently utilize hospital computer systems for order verification, schedule viewing, and information transmission to PACS.
  • Engage in effective communication across departments and collaborate with medical staff, management, and support personnel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To successfully perform this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Education / Training:

  • Graduate of a Radiography program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years of clinical experience is preferred.

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required; candidates must maintain good standing with the ARRT. Additional CT certification is required within one year of hire, with exceptions for technologists who have been working in the CT modality since before 2008.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers from The American Heart Association and/or The American Red Cross is required at the time of hire.
