Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Science Educator to join our team at Mad Science Group. As a Science Educator, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and interactive science programs to elementary-aged children.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school.
  • Deliver high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 8-10 weeks.
  • Drive to various locations across Maine.
  • Enjoy teaching young children the art of science.
  • Attend paid training sessions virtually and/or at our office.
  • Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid).
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Be on time for all scheduled activities.
  • Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Some experience working with groups of elementary-age children (such as an after-school teacher or camp counselor).
  • Must be available at least two consistent weekday afternoons between the hours of 12:00 and 5:00 PM.
  • Must have reliable transportation as you will be transporting equipment and conducting programs across our territory.
  • Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.
  • Maintain a fun, flexible, & outgoing personality.

We train you in the curriculum and provide all materials. Mad Science classes follow the school calendar and are presented year-round. This is rewarding work if it fits with your schedule and lifestyle.
