Brighton Center, Inc. is a community-focused non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families towards self-sufficiency through various support services, educational programs, employment opportunities, and leadership initiatives.
Objective:
The Residential Assistant is responsible for providing direct oversight to the residents of Brighton Center's Homeward Bound Shelter. This facility operates around the clock, catering to youth aged 11-17 who have experienced abuse, neglect, or homelessness. The role involves actively engaging with these young individuals to facilitate their progress towards personal objectives. Residential Assistants are crucial in helping youth develop essential life skills, pursue educational opportunities, seek employment, and enhance their social-emotional health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily activities of shelter residents and implement behavior management strategies as required.
- Ensure timely preparation and serving of meals.
- Assist in the 24/7 shelter programming.
- Respond to hotline calls and provide necessary crisis intervention.
- Collaborate with the Treatment Team to create and implement individualized service plans for youth.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Support youth in a 24/7 emergency shelter and residential treatment setting.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Preferred two years of experience working with at-risk youth.
- High School diploma required; some college education preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the past five years.
- Experience in residential settings is advantageous.
