Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Specialist at Sentara Healthcare demonstrates advanced and specialized clinical knowledge and skills to facilitate the provision of patient-focused care, promoting health and well-being, and improving quality of life. This individual provides expertise and support through direct care, leadership, coaching, research, ethical decision making, collaboration, and consultation.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based practice changes to improve patient outcomes
  • Provide expert clinical guidance and support to nursing staff
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform practice changes
  • Develop and implement education programs for nursing staff
Requirements
  • Master's degree in nursing required
  • 2+ years of nursing experience, with recent experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience with adult population required
  • RN license in VA or compact/multi-state eligible
  • Certified in specialty area deemed eligible for CNS by State Boards of Nursing
  • CNS registration with Virginia or North Carolina Board of Nursing required
